Candy Bar Brownies

Last night while I was in the kitchen I noticed how much Halloween candy I had left over. I was just going to throw it out. When I remembered, last year a lot of you guys baked cakes, breads, and brownies using left over Halloween candy. (You guys are geniuses.)

Now, I searched for a very basic brownie recipe. The type of recipe that does not require melting really nice chocolate. Into the Google search button went "...brownie, cocoa powder, recipe" and ta-dah "...Hershey's Brownies".

I know you dying to ask "...Gigi how does it taste?" Well, it's chocolate. How bad could it be? I used Hershey's Miniature Candy Bars and Three Musketeer's Dark Chocolate Mint Bars. Some of the bites were awesome. And some bites were ...umm ... different.

Hey, if you have a ton of candy left over and are feeling a little Dr. Frankenstein then go right ahead and give these a go. And let me know what candy bar combination you used. All I can tell you is peanuts and wintergreen mint not so good together.

On a side note, The Cake Slice will no longer be accepting new members. We are honored that so many of you have committed to the group and many wish to do so. We made a promise in the beginning to keep the group small and we will keep that promise to you guys.

Oh yum they look delicous and what a brilliant way to use up leftover candy. Hmmm, not sure about peanuts and mint either, but it would add an interesting touch.

lol! I love how you say some bites were "different". When I bake something and my darling isn't sure he likes it much, he just says it's "different". I know what that means! :) The mint/chocolate combo sounds good though.

That's a great idea Gigi, Halloween candy can stay around so long it takes on a life of it's own! LOL!!

Delicious use of leftovers! I did the same with peppermint patties.

Mmmm excellent use of leftover Halloween candy. I should do something like that, though the only Halloween candy I have left is the stuff I don't really like.

Do you have a good Red Velvet Cake recipe.. I want to make it, but I would like to use one that someone recommends. I tried to make one once, but it turned out kinda dry.

YUM...I just made mint brownies last nite with some leftover candy and they are divine. So ironic because I was thinking that these same brownies with peanut butter and other candies truly IS genius!

oh btw cici, a good RV recipe to try is Auntie Em's red velvets, I think the recipe is on Food Network. don't use as much oil as she does though, it's way too greasy. i played around with this one until i got something i liked...but it's a good place.

Dear CiCi,

Mara took the words right out of my mouth. That recipe is a great one. I always achieved great results with it. I have halved it and doubled it with no problems!

My friend Tonia makes a snickers cookie. She takes the bite sized snickers bars and wraps them in a basic peanut butter cookie recipe and they are soo good!
